According to the By-Laws of the Church of the G.O.C. of Greece, Diocesan Courts operate in each eparchy.

Aside from these, the following Synodal Courts operate in the offices of the Holy Synod. By decision of the Holy Synod on October 12/25, 2010, the Synodal Courts are as follows:

A.    Lowest Synodal Court. President: His Eminence, Metropolitan Gerontios of Piraeus and Salamina. Members: His Eminence, Metropolitan Chrysostomos of Attica and Boeotia and His Grace, Bishop Gregory of Christianoupolis. Replacement members: Their Graces, Bishops Photios of Marathon and Theodosios of Bresthena. This Court is responsible for the cases of deacons and lower clergy. The ruling Bishop of the accused takes part in this court ex officio (if not legally exempted).

B.     Court of First Instance for Priests. President: His Eminence, Metropolitan Maximos of Thessalonica. Members: Their Eminences Metropolitans Justin of Euripus and Euboea, Gerontios of Piraeus and Salamina, Chrysostomos of Attica and Boeotia and Their Graces, Bishops Photios of Marathon and Theodosios of Bresthena. Replacement member: His Eminence Metropolitan Athanasios of Larissa

C.     Court of Second Instance for Priests. This Court consists of the Holy Synod of the Hierarchy under the presidency of His Beatitude Archbishop Kallinikos of Athens.

D.    Court of First Instance for Hierarchs. This Court likewise consists of the Holy Synod of the Hierarchy under the presidency of His Beatitude Archbishop Kallinikos of Athens.

E.     Court of Second Instance for Hierarchs. This Court consists of Holy Synod of the Hierarchy of the Church of the G.O.C. in full quorum under the presidency of His Beatitude Archbishop Kallinikos of Athens. It is the only body competent to impose the sentence of deposition upon hierarchs.

The entirety of the Holy Synod is also the only body competent to reinstate condemned clergy.

The personnel of the Synodal Courts are: Archimandrites Christodoulos Karaiskos (Secretary) and Gabriel Demetriou (Replacement Secretary) as well as Constantine Katsagones (Association)
